Where would we be without our best friend forever? Every woman probably has a close group of friends but it’s her bff she truly relies on. She’s the one that nothing counts until she knows. This isn’t your mother, daughter or significant other. The only blood exception might be a sister. Your bff is a “seen you at your worst, knows where the bodies are buried” kind of woman. Your bff doesn’t play any other role in your life except as your bff.

My BFF is probably a little different than most women’s. She lives soooo far away but we keep in touch like we’re next door neighbors. We see each other maybe once a year but she is part of my everyday. We met in high school and stayed close for several years. Then because of families, careers, and cross country moves, we fell out of touch. We reconnected when the digital age hit via Facebook and texting. Now a day seldom passes that we don’t communicate.

Once she validates your feelings, you can face the problem again; this time with more accountability. But she is the safe harbor where you can go and bleed as much as you need without any judgment.

5. IS SHE ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE?

She knows what you need. Sometimes it’s sympathy. Sometimes it’s to share excitement. Sometimes it’s to commiserate. Sometimes it’s advice. Sometimes it’s an opinion. She knows it and does it without prompting. She is rock solid when it comes to delivering emotionally. She cares so much about you that she steps up. Every. Single. Time. She fills you up when you feel deflated. She gets fired up when you complain. She screams with genuine delight when you announce your accomplishments.

6. DOES SHE KNOW YOUR FRIENDSHIP WILL SURVIVE HONESTY?

Your relationship is past the sensitive stage. She can be brutally honest with you because you know it comes from a place of love and compassion. She gives it to you straight when others cower. She knows that you respect her for her honesty and keeps you grounded because of it.
