Do you ever feel overwhelmed by life, family & home and need to restore your sanity fast? Does it seem you get on the hamster wheel each morning, only to step off late in the evening and stumble into bed exhausted from the day because you never got a break from the chaos? Do you always feel like you’re only one spilled coffee on your blouse away from a grand mal seizure? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need some simple solutions to restore your sanity fast.
TIME OUT
You’re not alone. We all need to retreat from life’s demands once in a while. We need a place that protects and nourishes us. Provides us the fuel needed to continue the break-neck pace we have. I call it Sanctuary.
Every woman needs sanctuary. It’s her happy place. It may be a bathtub, a comfortable chair for leisure reading, a secluded running trail, or a compassionate person who listens without judgment. Sanctuary comes in all forms. It’s how she refills her cup. And face it, we all have empty cups far too often.
We all know the importance of well-being, reducing stress and managing hectic demands but we seldom take the necessary measures to nourish ourselves with what we need. Our families need us to take care of ourselves. If we are frazzled, how can we care for others? Oftentimes, it’s just a little break of treating yourself to some solitude that will provide great benefit.
WAYS TO RESTORE YOUR SANITY FAST
Consider these 10 options the next time you feel strained and ready to snap.
1. DEEP BREATHING
Long, deep breaths for 30 seconds signals to your body that you’re okay and quickly restores your balance. Don’t underestimate your sanity’s dependence on sufficient oxygen flow to the brain. Frequently we feel short on patience just because we aren’t clear headed.
2. MEDITATION/VISUALIZATION
It can be beneficial to transcend your current situation by taking a few minutes to escape all of the racing thoughts by emptying your head and focus on a calm state that helps you regain composure as well as fuels your need for balance.
3. ENGAGE IN REPETITIVE MOTION
Turn your attention to the family pet or a fidget toy to force your brain to slow down. A few strokes of Fluffy, doodling, or a stress relief toy can significantly help you calm your nerves to relax.
4. EXERCISE
Move your major muscle groups for at least 10 minutes to release endorphins and provide a calming effect. In addition, it will likely help your sleep.

7. CONFIDE WITH A CLOSE, TRUSTED FRIEND
Being heard with lots of compassion but none of the judgment can be very healing and validating.
8. MOVE YOUR BODY
Harness anxiety into positive energy by dancing, gardening, cleaning, or cooking. Engaging in a routine activity can be therapeutic allowing you to work out solutions or at the very least return to a stable equilibrium.
9. INDULGE IN A HOBBY
Hobbies and special interests allow you to channel your talents by providing a creative outlet for stress and self expression.
10. GET OUTDOORS
Sunlight is a powerful energy booster and mood stabilizer. Fresh air and a change of scenery can have positive effects on your state of mind and help reset your mood.
