Bath bombs are not only a wonderful way to relax and soothe aching muscles but they’re fun too. I’ve been fascinated with these fizzy delights since I first saw them several years back. The problem was the $3-4 per bath bomb seemed indulgent.
Affordable As Well As Fun
So I did some research and determined I could make them myself for about $1 each. Now I could have multiple colors and scents and frivolously toss one in every bath with nary a thought to cost. And they’re easy peasy to make.
Ingredients Needed:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup epsom salts
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- essential oils
- soap dyes
- water in a spray bottle
- bath bomb molds
Yields four 2″ bath bombs.
Step 1: Sift dry ingredients well.
Step 2: Add coconut oil. Lightly spray water to mixture and begin mixing with hands. Continue to add water until mixture is able to pack but still slightly crumbly.
Step 3: Add essential oil and soap dyes. Amount depends upon desired results. Mix well.
Step 4: Tightly pack bath bomb molds with mixture.
Step: Remove bath bombs from molds and let dry 24 hours.
Notes: Wrap bath bombs in tissue paper or plastic to maintain potency for up to 6 months.
